April’s Made It – 33 is the new # to beat!

Yipeeee! We have had (and are still having – for the next 36 or so hours anyway) a BUMPER challenge this month with 33 awesome entries…and a few more to come if you get a move on!

Let me dive straight into the lovely new entries…

Sail Boats by Kakes Crafts

Like a lot of members, no Made It challenge would be the same without Kayleigh from Kakes Crafts! LOVE these crocheted sail boats which hang on the wall, made especially for her Mom and Dad’s new home – sweet! They are definitely going on my own list of projects-to-do (if I can possibly ever get over the fear of blocking)!!! Check out her post which has a great link to the original pattern 🙂

foot stool 2

Flower Foot Stool by YarnChick40

It just goes to show…when you persevere through your list of unfinished projects, the results are almost always MASSIVELY SATISFYING!  Well done to Lisa Victoria of Yarnchick40 for not scrapping this one. Your flower pouffe/footstool is gorgeous – the colours go beautifully together. This one’s a family heirloom for sure!

~~~~~~~~~~
Blocked Shawl by Knitnrun4sanity
I wanted to make this photo bigger so that you can truly appreciate the incredible stitching of this beautiful shawl!! Alice from Knitrun4sanity’s post about blocking – something, as I mentioned earlier, has always terrified me – is brilliant. The step by step explanation and the photos make the whole process look very exciting. Her shawl is absolutely s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g, don’t you agree!!!
~~~~~~~~~~

Peppa Pig by ONoodles

I just love Jill from O’Noodles energy & colourful spirit – she always brings a smile to my heart and this little noodle didn’t disappoint! I am sticking my neck out here (being in South Africa and all) and I assume this is actually Peppa Pig? She is delightfully cute and happy! Please go and LIKE Jill’s Facebook page, I promise you will ADORE what you see and will have loads of fun browsing though all her photos 🙂

April’s “Made It” – Sew Exciting!

Hello Everyone! Hope you’ve had a great weekend where ever in the world you are.

It’s one of my favourite times of the week – Sunday eve, just after a lovely long day with my family and juuuuuuust before the mad rush, of getting things ready for school begins….which is about a full 5 minutes! But hey, they are my 5 minutes, (ours actually), so I use them wisely and show off the latest entries and ignore the yells for ” Mooooooooooom” that are coming from downstairs. My door is locked anyway HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

I am sew (ok, enough of that) happy that we have our second and third “sewing projects” in this months challenge. How cool! I am super envious of people who can sew and I am Oh Sew Tempted to ask my Mom to teach me how to use my Grans sewing machine that is gathering dust…hmmmmm, I’ll have to get back to you about that.

Image

Starry Starry Night by Oh Sew Tempting

A hearty warm welcome to the incredibly talented Avis from Oh Sew Tempting! – I’m sure most of your already know her! This is Avis’s first entry into the Made It and I sincerely hope it’s the first of many. WOW, her magnificent sea-inspired, super-sized quilt is breathtaking – the colours go so perfectly together and the wavey stitching is just brilliant.

Click here to see the rest of the photos 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful gift with us.

I am thrilled to welcome another first-timer and sewing sensation to the Made It. Welcome Mtetar of Projects By Mtetar! Thank you for also sharing this fantastic and super cute project with us – this adorable little girls skirt and matching tote bag, beautifully made from one pair of jeans and some material! Your granddaughter is going to be over the moon with her new goodies!

There is a lovely little step-by-step too so make sure you pop over and have a look at her post here

~~~~~~~~~~
Because we started late, I am leaving the link open until the 1st May so there is still time for any last minute entries.
I have to apologies at this stage and tell you that I don’t have anything to enter this month!!! I was going to enter the 60 IdentiDasies that I made for Krystal’s wedding (I have an updated pattern) but I forgot to take any pics arrgggg!! So, please forgive me. I will update the origonal post with the new pattern, just in case you feel the urge to make some pretty little flowers to sit prettily around the base of your wine glass!
Here’s another pic of the wedding, just becuase 🙂
Crocheted Bag by Creative Granny
There’s definitely a sub-theme of Bag ‘n Blankets going on this month too! Thank you Helen from Creative Granny for including your crochet bag. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Made from 100% cotton in Ivory, it was crocheted from no pattern – just from being inspired by a pic on Pinterest, how awesome!
Baby Aviator Hat by Cafe Crochet
I am over the moon to welcome back J.G Burdette from Cafe Crochet! J.G is also  the inspiring author and owner of Map Of Time, a beautifully written, historical blog which is incredibly interesting and entertaining.
Luckily for us, J.G can also crochet –  really well too!!! This baby aviator hat is gorgeous – the buttons finishes it off perfectly too.  I think my little boy would look very handsome in one of these 🙂
Pooh Bear Blanket by C’est La Vie
I have to admit, I have a bit of a personal satisfaction with this entry as Tara bought the yarn from me –  we had some discussion about whether the colours she chose would be suitable for lovely ole Pooh!  I am delighted to see that “suitable” translated to PERFECT!!! Tara, who’s been working on her giant ripply blanket (a wip previously entered) set it aside to make this sweet blanket for a friend. Ahhhhhh, well done ♥
April’s Made It…and the entries just keep rollin’ in (although some rolled in sooner than others – oops!)
If Sorry’s were butterflies, I’d send you a skyful of them ♥
DaniellaJoe! Please forgive me for not including your (a.m.a.z.i.n.g) Made It entry in my last post – in fact it should have appeared in the first post as you were super quick out of the starting blocks this month but somehow managed to slip through the large gaps in my somewhat overcrowed brain!
Big Bag by DaniellaJoe
The ever so talented, wonderfully colourful DaniellaJoe has created what she has called BIG BAG….usually I would be at a loss for words, but nooo, not this time. In fact, I’m going to see how many, more suitable titles I can give her  BIG BAG in 10 seconds…ok, are you timing? Here goes.
The……………Bag
 “Incredibly Colourful & intricately Designed & Oh So Desirable”
“Look At ME!”
 “Eat Your Heart Out Granny Square”
  “Every Woman Wants One”
 “I Want One Of These…NOW”
“Gimme Gimme”
“101 Different Techniques”
“The Woolhogs” ® (ok ok, chancing my luck!)
…I could go on.
Seruioulsy though DaniellaJoe, this is a bag to be very proud of!!!!
Next up is two FANTABULOUS entries from our Jill of Nice Piece of Work.
Tin Cozy by Niece Piece Of Work
100_7098
Pom Poms & Paisley by Nice Piece Of Work
I’ve often thought that Jill was being waaaaaay too modest when she called herself Nice Piece Of Work. I think she could’ve used any of the following adjectives instead of NICE: (in fact, I may just petition to have her name changed – it happens here in SA all the time with street names, major cities and even provinces)
  • Supertalented
  • Crochetlikeamachine
  • Flippenamazing
Or, perhaps she shouldn’t have made her name so short – maybe she should’ve called herself Fifty Nifty Pieces of Work in a Week.
Either way, she sure does make my head spin in a really good way with all the wonderful goods she creates, don’t ya think?! I asked her just the other day how she manages to churn out so many stunning projects. She insists it’s because she DOES NOT COOK! Hmmmm, is that what I’ve been doing wrong?!
I ADORE her Tin Cozy!!! I love the chunky crochet look – it just makes the tin look really…well, cozy. Jill, you may not cook but you definitly know what to do with a can!
And how’s this pom-pom adorned, yarn bombed paisley table?!!!! This is fantastic 🙂  I think we are going to have to get her to share the pattern (actually… is there even a pattern or did she just spot a leaf-shaped table and simply whip up a crocheted paisley cozy out of her head???!!!)
Thanks Jill, you are the (yarn)bomb  x
JAM PACKED! with Made It’s and more
It’s not often that I feel so full of energy on a Monday morning – especially not after a weekend filled with all thing WEDDING! (not mine of course, but that of my sister-in-law/BFF and new brother-in-law) But, today the sun is shining despite that fact that it’s almost winter, and the rush of post wedding bliss is still running high!
I have so much to “show and tell” – what with the wedding, prizes received and prizes going out, and of course *rubs hands with glee*  the new Made It challenge entries but I run the risk of waxing on and on – especially given my chirpy mood this morning –  so instead, I will just post the pics and let them pretty much speak for themselves.
First up…some wedding pics! These are really some (not-so-good quality)  “behind the scenes” pics taken on cell phones, so I will share the real-McCoy ones with you when they are ready.  But I can tell you in the meantime, the setting was sensational, the ceremony was heartful & beautiful…the entire day was magical! I promise to give the full love story soon ♥
Heritage Trellis Lace Cowl by Knitxpressions
Welcome to Knitxpression and thank you for entering the Made It challenge! The title of her post made me smile –.A Gift For Me – as I know that there are many of you out there that feels the same way I do. For me??!  I think we feel less guilty about sitting back knitting/crocheting the day away, feet tucked in with a cuppa on hand, letting the dishes pile up and the kids get filthy if we make goodies for everyone anyone else other than ourselves! Pffffffft to that I say! Good for you!!! I have become a huge fan of cowls and this Heritage Trellis lace is stunning!
Enjoy your trip to New Zealand x
Jam Tarts – Giveaway
If you haven’t already become acquainted with these two fun/ny ladies…you are missing out big time!
Cupcake and Fysh
I got a stunning little surprise package from Jam Tarts this weekend (sounds delicious right?! Now I want tarts…) containing a few beanies for the #100beaniesforcancer project I’m doing, 2 pairs of the cutest and most comfortable crochet slippers ever (which I’ve *cough* sort of been wearing as shoes) and a chocolate for the Fysh which he refused to share with anyone.crochet slippers
These shoes slippers are so frigging comfortable and the timing is PERFECT with the degrees dropping so drastically all of a sudden (we seemed to have skipped autumn and gone straight to winter here in the mother city. Not that I’m complaining though). I think the only thing I’d change is put a leather sole on instead of a felt one so I can really wear them as shoes 😛
They remind me of the bedsocks that my ouma used to knit us when we were little, just…
April Made It – Tango Tunic, Cute Cardi, Chick ‘n Bunny, a WOW before/after and a sweet Ladybird or two…
I must be getting OLD
Where have the days gone where I could go out on a 12 hour Hen Party marathon, dance the night away and bounce out of bed the next morning!??? I am only too happy I turned down most of the shots/cocktails/drinks that came my way but sadly still managed to crawl my way through Sunday feeling like a truck ran me over. We had a fun filled day however, starting with a life drawing art class (heehee…yes, this was FUN FUN FUN), followed by a Cuban dinner with the boys, a few pre wedding games, a little dancing, some fab’80’s music and pool playing (yeah, random I know!)
Laura, this would have taken me EONS!!!!!!!!! Envious.com heehee
Night Night ♥
Let’s get April’s “Made It” going!
It’s been a very exciting and busy week this my side of the planet – my sister-in-law slash BFF is getting married in 10 more sleeps! You can imagine the number of shops we have visited to hunt down those all important, last-minute things. Yesterday, the bride-to-be and my fellow bridesmaids (my other two sister-in-laws…or is it sisters-in-law? Whatever!) spent close to 7 hours in town and our “to-do-list” was something like this:
  • pick up “The Dress” – CHECK its breathrakingly beautiful!
  • convince the very camp/very bossy shop owner to let the bride try on “The Dress” one more time (and try to heartily laugh at his umpteenth reference to the bride as Bridezilla..HA.HA.HA)  – CHECK
  • pick up bridesmaid dress (for me!) – UNbloodyCHECK, stuff up and has to be remade arrghhh!
  • cardigans for the 3 flower girls – CHECK
  • pale pink/nude heels for Debz – CHECK
  • gold earrings and necklace (again, for me!) HALF A CHECK
  • lunch – while picking out the “first dance” song which the groom will also like DOUBLE CHECK, yum sushi and the “Across the Universe” version of one of the Beatles songs the thumbs up!
  • smart pants for my baby boy Finn (to go with his All Stars and pin-striped shirt) CHECK cute black skinnys!!
Let me tell you….seven hours didn’t even touch sides!!!
Here is a little sneaky peak of the bride  – gotta be careful that the groom doesn’t get a look in. I will keep you posted 🙂
