~
YAY, I knew Jane from Rainbow Junkie Corner wouldn’t be able to resist more crochet flowers (or cactus in this case)! I know cactuses (or cacti?) don’t need much water but this is superb!!! I especially love the beautiful pink flowers which Jane so rightly says never last long in real life.
♥
I know, I keeeeeep saying this but being a non-sewing person myself, I am completely in awe of Avis from Oh Sew Tempting and the incredible creations she makes. This starry wonder is simply amazing, so intricate and complex. Heehee, the closest I ever came to sea-shaped stitches like this was with my crayon in back to Grade 1.
♥
And another fantastic creation by Avis from Sewing Beside The Sea, which I’m sure you all know is her other blog and which is no less inspiring & choc a bloc with stunning creations. Her beautiful striped ripple blanket is an incredible feat – you’ll have to click on the post for a pic of the actual size…don’t forget to close you mouth!
♥
I so love newcomers to the challenge and am thrilled that Beth from B*A*M Crafts has entered another of her fun and funky creations to the challenge – I also love her “throw caution to the wind” style of crochet too – my kinda gal. Especially when it produces cushions like this – the perfect partner for her colourful star ripple blanket! LOVE IT!
♥
WOW…….sighhhhh. Ahhhh, this is pure magic! Magda from Pigtails is a crochet artist full stop. What an incredible design, what dreamy photos and what a beautiful story. So exquisitely made from the softest bamboo, I can almost feel it! Thank you Magda for sharing x
♥
♥ Thank you ALL for entering the challenge, for sharing your talents, all your lovely comments and for inspiring like you have no idea ♥

It might just be me, but it seems that the interwebz has gone on strike!! I’ve been pulling my hair out since yesterday trying to sort out these taunting technical issues. Ok, to be fair, I’ve been doing none of the actual sorting – my hubby has – but still, waiting to get a post out against when the router keeps flashing an evil red eye at you can be rather insanely annoying! So quickly before I loose my marbles, connection again, here are the next lot of entries.
Enjoy!
Isn’t this simply wonderful?! This “Aquatic” quilt was made by Alyssa from Measured & Slow and was part of a challenge she took part it. I’ve said it many times before, but I am totally in awe of the sewers (sewers? hmm, that doesn’t sound right!) quilters out there. I love the ripples and the meandering pattern, not to mention the striking colours. Can’t wait for more!
♥
This teeny-tiny-cutie-pie cardigan, entered by movie-holic (you HAVE to read this post heehee) Kaiserin from Empress27 is adorable and very pretty in blue. I’m sure most of us crochet/knitters out there happily agree to watch movies/sports games just so we can carry on with projects! Am I right?! Ps can’t wait to see what the Dorset Down fleece becomes too…
♥
Ahhhh wow, these colours are sensational, an amazing rainbow fish lookalike. I adore everything that comes from Melissa from VuChickens and these knitted Crofton Cuffs are no exception. Her homespun Merino looks just as divinely soft as described! I am definitely going to attempt to make a pair of these this winter
♥
Heehee, I love the wonderful energy of Craft Maniac Mommy just as much as I love the title of her blog post..A whole lot of Croc! Of course, she’s not referring to anything other that the fabulous Crocodile stitch that she used to create this adorable cuddly owl. This is such a winner gift for kiddies (yep, big or small!)
♥
The following two entries are from Sandy of Live Love Lake and if you’ve been following the Made It, you’ll know that Sandy makes the most amazing knitted animals. Meet the lovable Valerie, her Valentine Bunny – and look at her dress!!! Please pop over and browse her blog, it’s truly inspirational and filled with loads of tips and link.
Next is this stunningly beautiful shawl, the result of a Downton Abbey Knit Along Mystery . The colours are so lovely and YES Sandy, you so look incredibly warm and cosy (see pic on post) and YES, we are super impressed and a little envious of the snow too!!
♥
A lovely warm welcome to Beth from B*A*M! Crafts who’s joining us for the fist time and has entered her gorgeous Star Ripple Blanket! The shape of the blanket alone is so striking and the colours just add that extra WOW factor. I had lots of fun browsing around her blog which is filled with lots of colourful and happy crafts, I’m sure you will too!
♥
Here is another FABULOUS entry by Madeleine from Pretty Blue Bird Studio. This Sideways Triangle Scarf, knitted in colouful cottons is a designed I’ve never seen before but am now completely in love with. A perfect scarf for all seasons (ahem, which is exactly what we can get in just one day here in the Cape, right Madeleine!) and the colours & stripe make my souls sing!!!
♥
Happy browsing everyone – be back soon!

The FEBRUARY Made It Challenge
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything that wasn’t a “Made It challenge” related, but then again I haven’t actually made anything post-worthy for ages either! Until I was forced to that it…
I received an invitation from my very good friend to join her in celebrating her birthday and one year anniversary of her separation (kind of in honor of replacing that hard time with a brand new happy experience – you may remember this post?) The theme was Goddesses and we each had to dress up (no, we will NEVER grow up!) and instead of random gifts, she asked if we could bring her something to represent her journey through the pain, the new love that has since entered her life and the happy, strong woman that has emerged – she has a way of challenging my creative side!!!
After much fretting about what I could make, I eventually took a crochet hock, gold wire, a moon stone, crystal beads and a whole lotta inspiration from Alice of Knitnrun4sanity (hope I did you some justice Alice!) and this is what I made (kindly modeled by my lovely daughter).
I will leave the interpretation up to you ♥
I’m off to enter the Made It!!
♥
Just another tantalizing reminder, of what’s up for grabs this month…
The winner will walk away with this ever-so-romantic crocheted shawl, kindly sponsored by Trevlyn of Babushka Crafts so make sure that you’ve entered!!! Entries close midnight on the 25th Feb!
There are more great entries to see which I will be posting this weekend so keep a lookout

Happy Monday everyone – I hope you all had a wonderfully fun and relaxing weekend!
It was a busy one for me with lots on the go which I will post about later. In the meantime, here are two pics as a sneaky preview…I promise, there’s a good explanation
The Made It entries are coming in fast & furiously, so sit back and enjoy….
Next up are entries from long time Made It challenger, Jill from O’Noodles who magically produced not one but TWO stunning Afghans throws (and these were stash busters too!)
The first one was inspired by the artist Hundertwasser whose use of colour will leave you weak at the knees – all Jill’s hard work truly captures his bright and bold style . The second throw was inspired by a “Happy Heart” challenge and too has an “arty” look to it. Both amazingly beautiful and inspirational throws!! Which is your favourite???
♥
Wooohoooo FREE PATTERN!!!! Thank you to Jackie from Knitting With Heart for not only entering her ADORABLE Sweetie♥ Knit♥Heart (ring and bracelet) into the Made It challenge but for sharing her pattern with us. (Click on the link of pic to download). I love them as pictured above over a pair of gloves, very chic!
♥
Hellloooooo Pigtails! So happy to have you back, with 3 more sensational entries…
Wowwee, what a colour fest and complete visual treat! I must say, the Patchwork blanket speaks to my very soul – the colours are delicious and the circle & squares have me utterly mesmerized. I adore her Indigo scarf with the beautiful bobble stitch, crocheted using Vinnis Serina, a soft silky bamboo – click on the post of the pattern and a link to an Invisible Double Knot. And staying with beautiful stitches, this Vintage Fan Ripple stitch is pure heaven – looking forward to seeing that throw too, Magda!
Looks like we’ll be saying Bon Voyage to the lovely Pigtails as she and her intrepid family leave SA for Qatar! THANKFULLY, the world is a WiFi village and we’ll have loads of fun keeping updated with new adventures and new crochet!
♥
Thanks for stopping by everyone, will be back soon with more!

*** The FEBRUARY Made It Challenge ***
Thank you all for the lovely response to Trevlyn’s prize that will soon be in the hand of this month’s winner. I assure you, her crocheted shawl is even better in real life. Now that we’ve all recovered, let’s get on with the next MARVELOUS bunch of Made It entries!
I love “firsts” – this time it’s the sweet Kayleigh of Kake’s Crafts who’s taking the title with these gorgeous socks! (Am I the only person left who’s never made a pair of socks!!?). The colour is lovely and they look as warm as snuggly as knitted socks should – these surely are the things that make winter worth it!.
♥
Now, these are my kind of flowers! Jane from Rainbow Junkie Corner has entered her knitted roses and rose bud which are guaranteed to bring lots of cheer all year round. I have a feeling we are going to be treated with some more flowers in the near future (nudge nudge, wink wink Jane!)
♥
Yipee, we have a newbie to the Made It! A huge welcome to Madeleine from Pretty Blue Bird Studio, a fellow Cape Townian with a way with a hook! This fab bag is an upcycled project, crocheted from old plastic bags – and the colours are stunning. Please pop over and say hi!
♥
Meet the lovely Miss Lily Rose! A warm welcome back to the lovely Pixie Miks A Lot and her beautiful doily clad mannequin. This lovely lady (Lily Rose) has had a recent colour make over with these bright and happy circles. Looking very chic and trendy! LOVE the earrings too 🙂
♥
Ohhh so much inspiration, so little hours left alone to crochet…sigh. The uber talented Lucie from Love, Lucie is on top form with the next three amazing entries. Have a look…
How absolutely clever to combine Pom Poms with a cushion – genius! The overall effect is fun and of course, it’s a great way to get the kiddies involved too!
Ooooh my, another cushion that completely pulls at my heart-strings! The combination of colours, circles and materials is perfect. WANT!
Sweet! Lucie made this needle case for her Mom’s birthday using this gorgeous fabric! There a wonderful step by step tutorial so making one looks slightly less daunting
♥
This is a very cool stool!!! This is the latest fine make by our funky yarn chick, Lisa from YarnChick40 and the first cover I’ve seen for a square stool that has made provision for the little gap in the middle. Brilliant!
♥
Hope you’ve enjoyed these as much as I have! Now off you go and add your linkies…

*shriek* No one, I mean NO ONE (not even a 7 foot, scar-faced wrestler) could look at these ADORABLE Galillee slippers and not have a heart melt!! These beauties, made by the super busy & madly talented Tamara from Crochet With Tamara are so gorgeous they don’t lose their cute-appeal the bigger they get….that means I NEED a pair STAT!
♥
A warm welcome back to Helen from Creative Granny who’s been making some amazing things (please go and browse her blog). Ahhh, the colours, the stripes, the tassels!! I absolutely love this lamp, such a clever idea, and as Helen says, a great way to use up left overs. What a way to brighten up a hallway!!
♥
And staying with colours and stripes, ooooh’s and AHHHH’s, here’s a gorgeous Autumn Rainbow crocheted beanie made by Jill from Nice Piece of Work for a colleague – lucky lady. That is one seriously AWESOME colour scheme and I’m definitely going to be using it!! Another stash busting winner
♥
Well, I must say I almost stopped breathing when I saw this STUNNING creation – I mean WOW! This beautiful granny square Poncho crocheted by Rene from Hav2Havz is one heck of a jaw-dropper. Again, the use of colour is fascinating and the rich tassels (for me, the best part) just makes it!!!
♥
Welcome back to Carole from A Slight Obsession With Books who just keeps on inspiring with her wonderful creations. I’ve never seen a design like this one before – her Starry Sky cushion is beautiful and so perfectly sewn. AGAIN, the colours are fabulous – very striking (see her post for a pic of the back too, love the contrast).
