The September Made It – The first batch of entries is here!

Helloooooo! The first bunch of entries into the Made It challenge are in (and the following are only the half of ’em!). ¬†I have a feeling that this collection, like all before it, is going to be crammed full of fun and exciting projects that will threaten our to-do lists to throw their hands up and run for the hills!

First up and first into the mix is this rather graceful and elegant Rabbit ūüôā

Patchwork Rabbit by Jill

What do you do if your friend asks you to make a rabbit for her new granddaughter? Why you rush into your (twenty-something) child’s room, grab her much-loved rabbit and pull her apart for her blueprint. That’s what. Luckily,¬†Rabbit by Jill of Nice Piece Of Work¬†turned out to be an excellent and very sophisticated clone ¬†– well worth the trauma! Hopefully Alex’s rabbit is perfectly back to normal Mom, hmmmm???

Colours of Summer by Alynnis

¬†Colours of Summer Blanket by Alynnis of Alynnis Crochet¬†– Colours of summer describes this blanket perfectly! I love how each row is different. If you’ve been following the Made It challenge, you’ll know that there have been some seriously amazing blankets entered so far and a few have been GEMS from Alyniss herself. This one is a standout and as Alynnis said “an absolute joy to make…”.

Sea and Sand Blanket by Rainbow Junkie

And speaking of amazing blankets, feast your eyes on this¬†Sand and Sea Ripple Blanket by Jane of Rainbow Junkie. Once again, Jane has contributed a couple of sensational blankets into the challenge so far, ¬†and that’s no small deal considering how much time, effort and passion goes into each one!!! The colours are magical together and apart from the obvious wavy nature of the stitches, they capture the essence of the seaside beautifully.

Baby Set by Kaiserin

How utterly ADORABLE is this¬†Baby Set by Kaiserin of Empress Fibres! I hope Kaiserin won’t mind me saying this but it’s so wonderful to see a “young” (cause we are ALL so young too, right?) crafter¬†who is so obviously passionate about her work and who turns out such beautiful items. I love this delicate baby dress with matching pants and sandals. Eeeeek there is just too much cuteness in one pic!!!

Striped Baby Blanket by Lianne

Wowee, ¬†we are very super spoiled this month with all these stunning blankets. I’m loving the colours of this soft and bouncy cotton¬†Stripey Baby Blanket by Lianne,¬†¬†one of our Facebook page members. I’ll say it again – I hope you all realise the time, effort, passion, late nights, uncooked dinners and abandoned husbands that actually go into the making of a blanket like this. Can’t wait to see more Lianne!

Upcycled Juice Pouch Bag by ShabbyShe

When I grow up, I wanna be ShabbyShe. How cool is this Upcycled Juice Pouch Lunch Bag by ShabbyShe?? My kids would think I was Supermom if I produce something like this on the first day of school Рgenius! Click on the link of photo, ShabbyShe has an amazing step-by-step picture tutorial to Supermom Greatness. And for this, we thank you *bows down *

See you soon for more, Love Maryanne

The July Made It Challenge – Bunnies & Owls, Cardies & Blankets, A Cozy & A Baby Bonnet

Hello, hope you are having a wonderfully relaxed Sunday wherever you are in the world. Here are the next batch of entries to show you, to entice you and to inspire you!

¬†The following four entries are lovingly made by one of the Made It’s long time members, Jill of O’Noodles, who always wins our hearts with her wonderful creations and whimsical characters. First up, let’s see what these sweet¬†bunnies have to say for themselves…

Bunnies by O’Noodles

Handsome Bunny In Grey With Blue Ears – “Oh my, ¬†where DID you get your beautiful colourful coat from?”

Psychedelic Bunny With Carrot- “Why, from eating these day-glo carrots of course. Wanna bite?!!”

Family Of Owls by O’Noodles

And making their second appearance into the Made It is this extremely sophisticated and well turned out family of wise owls. Meet Flip, Flop and Fly who look like they are about to take their little guy on his first adventure –¬†his first flight maybe heehe?

This gorgeous knitted baby matinee jacket in vintage courtelle it so special and the colours are amazing. The perfect summer accessory for the retro-trendy babe, complete with two sweet bunny buttons!

¬†And from a gorgeous baby cardie to fabulous big girl cardie! The colours are amazing – Jill tells me the yarn is hand-dyed by a friend (blackberries & cream YUM) – and the style is so flattering. Another must-have summer garment ūüôā

♥ ♥♥

¬†Welcome to Cathy from Bagg Ladys Buzz! Always lovely to have newbies to the challenge, and of course, more great blog to browse. Cathy’s entered these three fantastic baby blankets she’s crocheted for three lucky kiddies. ¬†For those of you who have never crocheted a blanket before – it’s not easy, it takes forever, it can reduce you to tears, it can take over your life. Ok, well maybe that’s just me! Either way, it’s a huge feat so well done Cathy, they are brilliant and will no doubt be cuddled and dragged around for years to come.

Kyle’s Blanket by Bagg Lady Buzz¬†

Kaylee’s Blanket by Bagg Lady Buzz¬†

New Baby Girl Blanket by Bagg Lady Buzz

Another great entry from Cathy is this cozy cotton Kindle cover. From the moment I saw it I wanted to start making one immediately ¬†– and I don’t even have a kindle but who cares. This one is cleverly lined to prevent any static electricity that could harm the electronics – how cool!!!

♥ ♥ ♥

I know, right now your face has just squished up and you are saying “awwwwww cute” – I’m right aren’t I?!! This little gem is beyond adorable … am I’m honestly not sure if I’m talking about the delicious little baby or her gorgeous little ELLA bonnet. ¬†The incredibly talented Jill from Nice Piece of Work is having amazing success with this pattern, even men are buying them…for themselves. JILL, I WANT ONE TOO – POM POMS AND ALL!!

That awkward moment when…

…you are happily congratulating yourself on another successful¬† Made It challenge completed…

You receive this.

Let me explain.¬† Every month, the winner of the Made It challenge gets randomly chosen by InLinkz, the programme that hosts our collection. And every month, once voting is over,¬† I get an email notifying me of the winner, as does the actual winner. Except last month, there was nothing. So, after a little hmmmm’ing, a little head scratching and a bit of searching I hit the reset button, thinking I’d probably forgot to tick some box….and VOILA, we had a winner.

Except that there WAS a winner –¬† AKA Jill from Nice Piece of Work –¬† and they WERE notified !!

So Jill, please accept my most humble apologies! You’re always a winner in your hearts – I hope that a duplicate prize will help make up for it! ENJOY xxx

Filthy Feet

Well, I’m back from a great camping holiday with family & friends – filthy smiling faces, piles of washing, content kids – all great signs of a happy holiday. What the heck was I thinking when I said I would be updating the Made It from the inside of a forest in the middle of nowhere??? Actually, it was heavenly not having contact with the outside world for a while and seeing all kids enjoy the freedom of running around, playing & swimming without the usual nagging question “can I play on the i Pad/phone/laptop/TV…..?” Ahhhh, bliss! Here’s to a lots more of the “real stuff” this year

So, um, a few days late…here are the rest of this months fabulous entries…

FO Agents of Shield Scarf by Stitched ‘n Scaps

For those of you who have want to try double knitting, you MUST read¬†Pia from Stitches ‘n Scraps ‘s brilliant post where she gives a tons of useful tips while making this AMAZING¬†¬†FO Agents of Shield Scarf– the first of two being made for twins boys.¬†(in case you had no idea what that was, I googled it and Agents of Shield ¬†it’s a popular kids TV show in the US). The scarf is reversible with an insanely difficultly looking hex pattern which works a treat! No doubt there’ll be two very happy recipients

Yarnbomb Wishes by Nice Piece Of Work

Spreading her wonderful and unique type season cheer this year is the lovely¬†Jill from Nice Piece of Work! This beautifully bright and happy¬†Yarnbomb¬†greeting¬†was placed at the entrance of her apartment complex. Hmmmmm, I wonder if there was even one single resident who had no idea who this bomber was…..?!

Mae’s Happy Feet by Vu Chickens

Jonah’s Slippers Of Many Colours by Vu Chickens

From filthy feet to¬†Melissa of Vu Chickens ¬†two pairs of Happy Feet! I’m pretty sure you cannot get cosier slippers than these beautiful thrummed ones belonging to Mae¬†and¬†Jonah¬†….not only expertly knitted by Mom (with a little help from two very able children I might add), but loving made from home spun wool too. These are sensational and perfect for some extra sliding around the house!

Crochet Key Rings by Rainbow Junkie Corner

Finally, we get to see what Jane from Rainbow Junkie Corner  was working on in the run up towards Christmas. These fun and fabulous amigurumi figure  crochet key rings, each so well thought up, are beautifully made and incredibly cute.  Such a great gift idea, especially for those hard-to-buy for men!

My First Sweater by Sandra Hernandez

WOW, not only has¬†Sandra from Sandra Hernandez Make¬†got a great eye for colour (yellow & ¬†grey being a favourite combo of mine, but I’ve never had the guts to wear them together), she must have the patience of an angel. Here is her¬†first sweater, knitted with such an intricate design which is ALL HER OWN! WOW, I’m very much looking forward to seeing more….

Cushion Cover by Kake’s Crafts

Ripples! Who doesn’t love this pattern. The lovely¬†Kayleigh of Kake’s Crafts‘s gorgeous ripply¬†cushion cover¬†came out beautifully! Again, the colour combo is stunning & very effective and the little heart buttons finish it off so well ¬†– a perfect gift even if it took a while to make.

Teddy Bear by Empress 27

Ahhhhh, I love old-fashioned teddies and this hand-made¬†teddy bear by Kaiserin of Empress 27¬†looks exactly like it should – even with the eyes not on yet hee hee. This little chap (and his friend, click on the pic for more about him) looked so fun to make…I easily can see how people get addicted!

And finally…..

Nicholas and Jessica

A match made in Christmas Heaven! The incredibly talented Sandy of Live Love Lake has entered her two AMAZING Christmas bunnies  Nicholas and Jessica  this month. Not only do they look like the happiest couple in town, I have a feeling they will be making their annual Christmas appearance for many many years to come!

Cottage Garden Blanket by Rainbow Junkie Corner

Finally, in all is stupendous glory, is¬†Jane from Rainbow Junkie Corner‘s CAL Cottage Garden blanket! After all those beautiful squares, the hours of dedication, the joining & ¬†the sheer ability to construct such an enormous project, it has turned out fantastically well! I love this pic too, it somehow reminds me of Van Gogh’s painting of his room – it looks so vibrant. Click on the link (or the pic) ¬†to the post where there’s a close up photo of the edging. The beautiful leaf pattern all around is Jane’s own design and finishes off the blanket perfectly

October MADE IT challenge – PARP! It’s Grace, the Amazing Foxy Medallion Penguin in Lacy Wrist Warmers lying on a Chevron Cushion with a Snowflake Pokemon Headband. Ha!

…and if you can make sense of that, you’re a genius (forgive me, I had a few minutes to spare)

Hello & welcome to our fist October Made It show and tell, whoop whoop! I’m absolutely loving the entries and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the posts too – very entertaining!

It’s been a tough week on the home front with very nearly losing my stepdad. He has a pre-existing lung disease (COPD, it’s horrible) and was admitted to ICU about a week ago with flu. This is routine procedure so we weren’t too concerned. However, he suddenly took an almighty turn for the worse, ¬†and barely breathing, he pretty much told us he was letting go. As you can imagine, it was devastating for the family and my brother and sister started making plans to come home. I was so mad that he could possible go in a hospital room!¬†How he made it through that night, I don’t know but what really blew us away was that he almost miraculously started getting better the next day and just kept on getting stronger and stronger. Even his doc was amazed. You can imagine how overjoyed we were when he came home yon Sunday, looking better than he had in ages!

So it’s with a very happy, light and grateful heart that I show off our first batch of entries…enjoy

First up are oooodles of entries by O’Noodles!

Medallion Scarf by O’Noodles

Snowflakes by O’Noodles

Lacy Wrist Warmers

The first 3 gorgeous entries are from¬†JIll from O’Noodles¬†who, might I add, is not only super crazy talented and fun, she is also waaaaaaay ahead of the crowd and serves as a warning to the rest of us tardy folk that Christmas (gulp) is just a few weeks away. Eeeeeeek! ¬†Her beautiful & exquisitely crocheted snowflakes are definitely something I’d like to try… about a gazillion years when I’ve had enough practice! Please click on each pic for a visit ¬†to Jill’s posts for links to the patterns for her stunning medallion scarf ¬†– which is super stylish¬†– and her equally chic & elegant lacy wrist warmers. ¬†Looks like both these items can easily be worn all year round, my kinda accessories! Thank Jill¬†‚ô•

Pokemon by Vuchickens

Penguin by Vuchickens

We are once again spoilt with these absolutely beautiful visuals! Oooooooh how gorgeous are these delicious creatures!?¬†Melissa from Vuchickens¬†gets parent of the century award in my book, and I say this not because of the number of times her amazing creations take my breath away, but also for the gentle and wonderful way she has with her children. I wiped a tear or two while reading about this pink little Pokemon¬†(don’t say I didn’t warn you!)¬†who was made to cheer the kiddies up after losing a pet. ¬†And just when my heart was nicely warmed, in walks Penguin to send me over the edge! LOVE LOVE LOVE the hat and scarf¬†‚ô•

A warm welcome back to last month’s winner YAY!

Elena from Beatrice Ryan Designs¬†has entered these beautiful, trendy headbands. If you don’t already follow her blog, please do yourself a favour and stop by for a visit – your head will spin with excitement at all her amazing makes. Elena is busy with a very wonderful and highly relevant campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness in honour of her friend and these headbands are part of her Amazing Grace series of free patterns. If you’d like to make & donate to this cause, please get in touch. It’d be greatly appreciated¬†‚ô•

Photo (30)

hey? didn’t I tell ya!

…And the answer is YES. ¬†I did almost fall over with ‚ô•¬†excitement ‚ô•¬†when I saw these awesome cushions by the lovely¬†Avis from Sewing Beside The Sea. I had to laugh when she said they don’t match with anything in her house but “who cares”!! I couldn’t agree more. AND not only can you ogle over these babies, you can also follow the fabulous step by step photo tutorial to make some for yourself. WAHOOOO!

Foxy by Nice Piece Of Work

Is it happening to you too? Are you also avidly following¬†Jill from Nice Piece Of Work‘s blog, waiting for the telltale title and trying to guess which gorgeous cuddly little animal beanie is going to be next?!!!!
