The FEB Made It – More Entries!

It might just be me, but it seems that the interwebz has gone on strike!! I’ve been pulling my hair out since yesterday trying to sort out these taunting technical  issues.  Ok, to be fair, I’ve been doing none of the actual sorting – my hubby has – but still, waiting to get a post out against when the router keeps flashing an evil red eye at you can be rather insanely annoying! So quickly before I loose my marbles, connection again,  here are the next lot of entries.

Enjoy!

Aquatic by Measured & Slow

Isn’t this simply wonderful?! This “Aquatic” quilt was made by Alyssa from Measured & Slow and was part of a challenge she took part it. I’ve said it many times before, but I am totally in awe of the sewers (sewers? hmm, that doesn’t sound right!) quilters out there. I love the ripples and the meandering pattern, not to mention the striking colours. Can’t wait for more!

sam_2108

This teeny-tiny-cutie-pie cardigan, entered by movie-holic (you HAVE to read this post heehee) Kaiserin from Empress27 is adorable and very pretty in blue. I’m sure most of us crochet/knitters out there happily agree to watch movies/sports games just so we can carry on with projects! Am I right?! Ps can’t wait to see what the Dorset Down fleece becomes too…

Rainbow Fish by VuChickens

Ahhhh wow, these colours are sensational, an amazing rainbow fish lookalike.  I adore everything that comes from  Melissa from VuChickens and these knitted Crofton Cuffs are no exception.  Her homespun Merino looks just as divinely soft as described! I am definitely going to attempt to make a pair of these this winter

Croc Owl by Craft Maniac Mommy

Heehee, I love the wonderful energy of  Craft Maniac Mommy just as much as I love the title of her blog post..A whole lot of Croc! Of course, she’s not referring to anything other that the fabulous Crocodile stitch that she used to create this adorable cuddly owl. This is such a winner gift for kiddies (yep, big or small!)

The following two entries are from Sandy of Live Love Lake and if you’ve been following the Made It, you’ll know that Sandy makes the most amazing knitted animals. Filthy Feet

Well, I’m back from a great camping holiday with family & friends – filthy smiling faces, piles of washing, content kids – all great signs of a happy holiday. What the heck was I thinking when I said I would be updating the Made It from the inside of a forest in the middle of nowhere??? Actually, it was heavenly not having contact with the outside world for a while and seeing all kids enjoy the freedom of running around, playing & swimming without the usual nagging question “can I play on the i Pad/phone/laptop/TV…..?” Ahhhh, bliss! Here’s to a lots more of the “real stuff” this year

So, um, a few days late…here are the rest of this months fabulous entries…

July Made It – What’s the collective noun for many new entries? Ahh, its…a “Craft” of New Entires!

huh, get it…”CRAFT of new entries”?? (Raft = many and Craft=Genius Husband)! Soooo gonna ™ that one!

Reminds me of one of the funniest moments of my life. I was playing Trivial Pursuit with my boyfriend at the time – I was probably 19, he was a 26 year old psychology student and I was so into him because he was mature, smart and interesting. His home language was Afrikaans – a Dutch originated language. Difficult to describe how all our 11 official South African languages fit in but in a nutshell, here in Cape Town specifically (and only in my own general opinion based on my circle of influence) there are mainly 2 spoken languages – English and Afrikaans.  Unofficially, English is more widely spoken even if you are Afrikaans. In a nutshell in another nutshell – if two friends meet or a drink and one is English and one is Afrikaans, they will be probably speak English –  you get my drift??)

Anyway, here’s the scenario

Me and Boyfriend playing Trivia Pursuit on the floor in front of the fire and it’s my turn to ask the question. He rolls the dice and lands on yellow. History.

Question – What craft was used in WW1 to….(and I honestly cannot remember the rest of the question)?

Answer –  Submarine

His answer.

Weaving!!!!!!

I rolled on that floor in a fit of laughter, clutching my tummy for hours before I could catch my breath to explain how we got lost in translation.  Luckily, he had the good grace to laugh along with me even though he had no clue why…ahh, good times!

So on that note, let me introduce you to the sensational Craft Of New Entires! BUT before I do, I have some house keeping to do.

I am not known for my impeccable accuracy and I  have been know to be too spontaneous, AND my brain can be quite sieve-like at times….so I humbly apologise to the following ladies, for the following boo boo’s:

For calling the lovely Teresa from Little Poppits, Laura last month. One month we had so many Laura’s and it looks like I got carried away.

For confusing Jane from Rainbow Junkie’s entry this month – she actually entered her coaster (pls see below) but I got all ga-ga over her bunting. I thankfully managed to persuade her to enter both!

For adding Jill from Nice Piece of Work’s Owl Mitts to my FB page and calling her Jane….arrrrgggg! Sorry!

Thank you all for your generous forgiving spirits!

Right, on with the show

owl-mitts

Owl Mitts by Nice Piece Of Work

Seems that the world is owl crazy, and you can hardly blame us. These little Owl Mitts are so adorable and Jill from Nice Piece Of Work is as crazy as the rest of us. I have to keep hiding these posts from my kids otherwise they are gonna cost me a fortune!

P.s totally LOVIN’ the cross-eyed look!

coasters

Colourful Coasters by Rainbow Junkie Corner

Here are the gorgeous coasters that Jane from Rainbow Junkie meant to enter, in the same lovely colours as her bunting. I must say, I do prefer coasters like these that are solid in colour but still a set of different ones – especially if they all complement each other. However, I’m a little seduced by the rainbow coloured one at the foot of her post, and you?:)
